History of the clinic 1992 - 2010


1992
- 10 July 1992: Dr. med. habil. Barth appointed Chief Consultant, at this time
  83 beds available 
- The KfH-Kuratorium für Dialyse und Nierentransplantation e.V. (Society for 
  Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation) takes over responsibility for the dialysis
  department including clinical dialysis, outpatient dialysis and nephrological
  consulting service (incl. pre- and post-transplant care) from the Urological
  Clinic. Thereafter it is under the directorship of Dr.med.Karl-Heinz Müller
  (specialist in Internal Medicine and Nephrology).
- Introduction of mobile ESWL
 
1993 
- First ureterorenoscopic laser stone lithotripsy
 
1994 
- First penile prosthesis implantation in Saxony; development of Andrology with
  colour Doppler sonography, fertility diagnostics etc.
 
1995 
- New modern urodynamic measuring system 
- First transurethral prostate vaporisation and first video TUR introduced 
 
1996 
- First use of the nerve-sparing technique in retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy,
- New urological operating theatre,
- New endourology building with observation beds
 
1997 
- Start of photodynamic diagnostics 
 
1999 
- First laparoscopic varicocele sclerotherapy and pelvic lymphadenectomy,
- Ligasure introduced 
 
2005 
- First laparoscopic nephrectomy, holmium and green-light laser
 
2006 
- First laparoscopic tumour nephrectomy
 
2007 
- Retirement of Dr. med. habil. Volker Barth on 29 January 1992 and
  appointment of Consultant Dr.med. Michael Olszewski as provisional director
  of the clinic 
 
2009 
- Clinic under the directorship of Dr. Martin Häcker from April 2009 until July 
  2010
