Ward „Lebensluft“

On our „Lebensluft“ ward, we offer patients requiring long-term respiration a prolonged and intensified therapy with the aim of leading a life independent of respiration.

Prolonged ventilation weaning on the „Lebensluft“ ward

We care for our patients with loving attention every day. In addition to highly specialised medical care, we attach particular importance to a comprehensive care and therapy concept. Our speech therapists, physiotherapists, ergotherapists and respiratory therapists currently care for ten patients in a very individual atmosphere. To mobilise and strengthen the entire musculature, we use highly developed aids such as a gait trainer. Our own physiotherapy room allows us to practice in peace and quiet on various training equipment. Psychosocial support and training courses provide support on the way back to everyday life.

The feel-good atmosphere and the attentive care of the nursing team ensure that our patients feel at home. In a large common room with balcony, patients and visitors can come together, eat together or spend time together. A variety of activities such as baking together and support in organising leisure time (e.g. painting, poetry, music) provide variety and new impulses. The familiar atmosphere on the „Lebensluft“ ward does the rest to ensure that our patients feel completely at ease.

Equipment and location

The bright, friendly ward is deliberately located somewhat away from the main building of the hospital. All single rooms have television and radio, a modern bathroom and a balcony with a view of the greenery.

For relatives and visitors, the „Lebensluft“ ward is just a few minutes' walk from Krefeld main station. You can find detailed information on how to get there here.

Our daily routine

Visits usually take place several times a week. Breakfast is served from 8.00 a.m., lunch at 12.30 p.m. and dinner around 6.00 p.m. In the afternoon our team will serve you coffee or tea.
