Benign diseases
Most diseases of the thyroid gland are benign. These include an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter), a thyroid gland with one or more nodes (autonomies) and an autoimmune thyroid disease (Graves' disease).
After informing you in detail about the disease and its course, we usually treat these diseases with radioiodine therapy.
Malignant diseases
Malignant thyroid diseases such as differentiated papillary and follicular thyroid carcinoma are usually removed surgically and then also treated with radioiodine therapy. We work closely together with our clinic for endocrine surgery. We will discuss the exact procedure in detail with you in advance.
Radioiodine therapy
Radioiodine therapy has been an effective treatment method for 40 years. It is used to treat overactive parts of the thyroid gland in a targeted manner, leaving normal functioning parts untouched. A radioactive form of normal iodine is used, which you know as an important component of food. In over 90 percent of all cases, a single therapy can cure overactive thyroid glands. In the few cases in which a renewed therapy is necessary, this is easily possible.
