As part of the "staging", we first examine the type and spread of the tumour so that we can get an exact picture of the disease and select the best possible individual treatment for you.
Surgical procedures
- We will adjust the operative measures exactly to your clinical picture. We use the following procedures for this:
- Removal of an organ section (segment resection)
- Removal of an organ lobe (lobectomy or VATS lobectomy)
- Removal of two lobes of the lung (bilobectomy)
- Removal of a pulmonary lobe (pneumoectomy)
- Alternative vascular and bronchial cuff operations
This technique usually makes it possible to avoid the removal of a pulmonary lobe and to preserve healthy lung tissue even in the case of centrally growing tumours.
Minimally invasive procedures
In the early stages of lung cancer, we perform the removal of a part of the lobe (segment resection) or pulmonary lobe (VATS lobectomy) in a minimally invasive procedure. These procedures are less stressful for the patient and are therefore also suitable for patients with pulmonary disease or in poor general condition.
