Joint Replacement on the Ortho-Campus

Joint Replacement on the Ortho-Campus

Our unit for endoprothetics at Helios Hospital Krefeld offers patients a unique concept for Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and Revision Surgeries.

The 'Ortho-Campus', our department for joint replacement in Krefeld-Hüls, stands for joint replacment and rehabilitation from one source in one place. Instead of switching to a rehabilitation clinic after the operation, you continue the subsequent rehabilitation with us. This means for you: Your surgeon is at your side from consultation and decision-making on therapy, through the operation, to the completion of rehabilitation.

Together with highly professional physiotherapists we work hand in hand for a seamless care from diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation, so you can get back to your daily life fully fit and as quickly as possible.

Expert care

Our orthopedic surgeons are specialized in gentle surgical procedures, backed with an experience of many years and conducting almost 250 Hip and around 140 Knee Replacement Surgeries annually. Patients at an advanced age or with multiple illnesses receive a comprehensive treatment plan from a care team including providers from geriatrics and other specialist departments.

Hip Joint Replacement

Our expert surgeons offer minimally invasive joint replacement and revision surgeries that are easier on you. Whenever possible, we use a less-invasive approach (Anterior Hip Replacement) to avoid muscle/tissue displacement and provide for faster healing (DAA Direct Anterior Approach).

Knee Joint Replacment: PSI and MAKO

In addition to conventional surgery, we also offer innovative surgical techniques for even greater precision.

PSI: Here, the affected knee is precisely measured prior to the operation using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The leg axis is calculated and the individual differences in bone surface and bone shape are taken into account. A special software converts the images of the MRI scan into a three-dimensional model, which enables us to select an implant of the right type before the operation and to produce precisely fitting templates.

We also offer you robot-assisted surgery with the MAKO-System on request. You benefit from the enormous precision with which the instruments are guided by the surgeon. The artificial knee joint can thus be positioned even more precisely and the optimal tension of the ligaments can be determined even better. This is very important, because only the optimal ligament tension ensures the fine balance between stability and mobility that you desire. Both techniques have the advantage that tissue and muscles are spared during the operation: This significantly accelerates the subsequent healing process. You are back on your own two feet much faster than with classical surgical methods. And you can look forward to an even better "knee feeling"!

Fast Track: Back on track after surgery

Fast Track is a concept of rapid recovery: It aims to accelerate the overall recovery process. Lying down too long after surgery is not beneficial for recovery - on the contrary. At the Ortho-Campus, we help you to move again as soon as possible after joint surgery and get back to your healthy, active life through an integrated, expert team approach.
