Excellent for children

Das Herzzentrum Leipzig ist eines der besten Herzzentren deutschland- und europaweit – und auch für Kinder eine ausgezeichnete Wahl, wie unser Gütesiegel bestätigt.

The Heart Center Leipzig is proud of also being 'Excellent for children'. At least, that is what the latest review by the Society of Pediatric Clinics and Pediatric Departments in Germany (GKinD) established yet again. A representative checklist was used to confirm that the University Clinic for Pediatric Cardiology was meeting every quality criterion without exception. This means that we offer children and adolescents the best possible treatment, which is also age-appropriate.

About the seal of approval

The parents of sick children and adolescents want their offspring to receive the best possible inpatient care at a reasonable distance from their home. The 'Excellent for children' seal of approval was developed to enable parents to check for themselves whether their nearest pediatric hospital was up to standard in terms of patient care. Clinics which are awarded this seal must first subject themselves to close scrutiny.

A summary of the criteria for approval:

  • A child-friendly environment at the clinic
  • Staff regard and treat the child as an individual
  • Flexible rules on visiting
  • Opportunity for parents of young children and infants to stay overnight
  • Close collaboration with you, the parents
  • Specially trained nursing staff and specialist doctors with a high level of empathy
  • Support from sociologists and psychologists

We believe it is of central importance to regard and treat each of our young patients as an individual. Naturally, this includes developing a close and trusting working relationship with their parents. Generally speaking, if a sound basis of trust exists between the family and the team treating their child, this can have a very positive effect on the recovery process.
