Treatment of Retinal and vitreous diseases

The retina is the specialized nerve tissue that lines the inside of the eye. The light-sensitive sensory cells (photoreceptors) absorb the optical stimuli and transmit them to the brain via the optic nerves.

Diseases of the retina and the vitreous body can lead to severe limitations of the visual function up to blindness. Early detection and treatment of possible diseases is therefore very important. We have all modern diagnostic procedures (including optical coherence tomography, fluorescence angiography and autofluorescence examination) at our disposal.

Our range of treatment

  • Laser treatment
  • The administration of medication into the vitreous body of the eye (intravitreal application) for a wide variety of macular diseases (age-related macular degeneration, diabetic maculopathy and macular diseases as a result of circulatory disorders, etc.)
  • Surgical treatment of all retinal and vitreous diseases (pars plana vitrectomy, seal surgery)
  • Reconstructive eyeball surgery e.g. after injuries
  • Surgery of the iris
  • Special intraocular lenses; e.g. intraocular lenses sewn into the eye
  • Treatment of retinopathy of prematurity
