As an alternative or in addition to surgical treatment of brain tumours and metastases, radiosurgery can be used if indicated. Here the tumour is irradiated with the so-called "Gamma Knife" with pinpoint accuracy. The diseased tissue can thus be treated with almost complete protection of the surrounding tissue.
For this therapy there is a close cooperation with the nationwide known Gamma-Knife Centre Krefeld, which is located in the immediate vicinity of our clinic.
Whether and how a tumour disease can be treated with the Gamma Knife must be considered individually. For this purpose, the option of radiosurgery, as an alternative or supplement to surgery, is always taken into account in the consultation and therapy planning in our tumour board.
