Tumor Treating Fields

The application of alternating electric fields (TFF) provides an additional, novel method for the therapy of glioblastoma.

Treatment using tumour therapy fields is based on the observation that rapidly changing electric fields disturb the cell division of brain tumours. It is an established, non-invasive procedure for the treatment of patients with glioblastoma.

In this method, several electrodes are applied to the scalp and connected to a therapy device. The system must then be worn as permanently as possible. As a rule, this therapy is used in addition to the standardised combined radiation chemotherapy. It can also be used in the event of tumour recurrence.
