Drug therapy of brain tumours

Drug therapies are an important part of neuro-oncological treatment.

In the case of aggressive brain tumours, follow-up treatment using conventional cytostatic therapies (known as chemotherapy) is particularly important. Depending on the exact tissue findings and the original tumour, so-called immunotherapy is also possible for some brain metastases.

Usually the drugs are administered in tablet form or as an infusion, in very rare cases drugs are administered directly into the liquor.

Whether a drug-based tumour therapy - as an alternative or in addition to other treatments - is necessary, we discuss individually for each patient in the expert team -> Tumor Board.

Drug treatment is usually carried out on an outpatient basis in close cooperation with the Clinic for Internal Oncology, the Clinic for Radiotherapy or the Clinic for Neurology.
