If your child's hand function is impaired, we will discuss a possible fitting of a hand orthosis in an interdisciplinary team consisting of paediatric neurologists, orthopaedic technicians and occupational or physiotherapists. This is used to correct, mobilise or stabilise hands and fingers in order to improve the position of the hand or fingers. Reasons for a hand orthosis can be a neurological disorder or rheumatic diseases.
We will accompany you and your child during the manufacturing and testing of the hand orthosis as well as afterwards during everyday activities. Our aim is to improve your child's ability to act in order to enable your child to lead a largely independent everyday life. We achieve this by improving the holding and gripping function and mobility of both hands. We work closely with the therapists treating your child on an outpatient basis.
