Drug treatment

If the tumour has grown beyond the prostate, it can no longer be treated with surgery or radiation alone. In metastasised, i.e. advanced prostate cancer, we use hormone or chemotherapy.

Hormone terapy

Antihormone treatment is based on the knowledge that prostate cancer is controlled and stimulated to a large extent by the male sex hormone, testosterone. The aim of therapy is to stop the production of the hormone (hormone withdrawal therapy) or to inhibit the effect of the hormone.

New drugs from this area are successfully used in our clinic and have recently expanded the treatment spectrum for prostate cancer. In accordance with the latest medical findings, we continually adjust the therapy for patients with a long medical history and on the recommendations of our experts with many years of experience. Here, we work closely together with our cooperation partners in private practice.

Chemotherapy

At our centre we carry out both outpatient and inpatient chemotherapy. Recent studies show that the early use of chemotherapy in prostate cancer patients with metastases has a positive influence on the course of the disease. We discuss the type of therapy, timing, duration and dosage individually for each patient in our interdisciplinary team of experts.

This approach allows us to ensure that patients with prostate cancer receive the best possible treatment at any time during their disease.
