Welcome to the Leipzig Heart Center!
Leipzig’s academic tradition is based on centuries of medical teaching and research. Since September 1994 this tradition has been maintained with pride at Heart Center Leipzig. A cooperative agreement between the Heart Center Leipzig, the University of Leipzig, and the Free State of Saxony forms the basis of our existence and the work we perform. As of February 2014, the Heart Center Leipzig belongs to the Helios Kliniken Group.
Over the course of our more than 20-year history, the Heart Center has been successful in practicing medicine of the highest international standards. The Heart Center has played a significant role in pioneering and developing many innovative cardiac therapies, such as minimally invasive heart valve surgery, catheter-based valve replacement procedures, and pediatric cardiac surgery, which are now routinely performed all over the world.
Today, over 1,450 employees work here under the guidance of internationally experienced physicians and renowned scientists providing pre-admission, in-patient and out-Patient care for nearly 44,000 patients each year. The range of services offered by the Heart Center encompasses diagnostics and therapies for all diseases of the cardiovascular system. In our dedication to providing the best individualized care, it is primarily the close cooperation between each of our departments that offers our patients not only new perspectives in terms of therapy, but also the highest level of safety and quality.
