Diagnostic of breast diseases

You or your doctor have palpated hardenings in your breast or the x-rays from the mammography were conspicuous. We will ensure that you gain clarity as quickly as possible.

First of all, we record your family history of the disease and palpate your breasts and armpits. On the X-rays we can detect the smallest microcalcifications as well as the size and number of any possible nodules and distinguish them from benign changes to a large extent.

Mammography and ultrasound examination

If the mammography does not provide a clear diagnosis because, for example, the connective tissue is too dense - as is the case with most people under 50 - we use the latest ultrasound examination methods. Using 3D ultrasound, our team can easily distinguish trivial cysts from lumps.
The ultrasound examination of the female breast is one of the basic methods for detecting and evaluating nodules and lumps. We examine both breasts as well as both armpits according to a predetermined scheme.

The biopsy

If the suspicion of a tumour is confirmed, we also carry out a so-called biopsy. This step is intended to clarify once again whether breast surgery is actually necessary. The biopsy is performed under local anesthesia and is optically controlled by means of a 3D ultrasound in order to take targeted tissue samples with a hollow needle. Within a few days we can usually tell you whether the tumour is benign or malignant.

In special cases, we use additional procedures that can visually represent a tumor. These include magnetic resonance imaging (MRT) of the breast.
